Speaking to TshisaLIVE, DJ Naves said his love for football started with his mother who instilled it in him from a young age.

“It was the era of the Brazilian greats such as Romário and Dunga, and their flair captivated me. That passion grew stronger when Bafana Bafana played Brazil at FNB Stadium, deepening my love for the game and the team,” he said.

For any child who supports a football club, there’s nothing more special than being acknowledged by that team.

“It’s the ultimate stamp of approval. Getting to work with the people who have shaped Sundowns’ success is priceless — the stories, the memories and the institution itself are beyond words. Sundowns’ identity has always been about style — shoe shine and piano, Bafana Ba Style. From day one we’ve been The Brazilians, playing with a distinct flair that is part of our football heritage.”

The Kings Of The Weekend member said Mamelodi Sundowns is part of him — literally.

He has a tattoo of the club's badge because his love for the team is forever.

“I will always stand by this club, no matter what. When it comes to my all-time favourite Sundowns player or match, it’s nearly impossible to choose. So many legends from different eras have shaped the club’s history. But one moment stands above the rest — being in Alexandria when we won the CAF Champions League [in 2016]. That first star is priceless, unmatched, and a feeling that can never be replicated. I was there for it and it will always be one of the greatest moments of my life.”
