After a four-year hiatus from the music scene, Zingah has made a bold comeback with the release of his EP Himmy The Lawd

“Since I stopped releasing music four years ago I’ve had people who ask me for music. That and the understanding that nobody could fill my void musically is the reason we’re back,” he told TshisaLIVE.

“I made this music in a space of freedom, where it wasn’t about conveying messages or anything to do with other people. It was just me in the studio expressing/enjoying myself.”

The project features collaborations with some of the hottest names in Mzansi’s hip hop scene, including 25K, Lowfeye and Mochen.

“Kaizer Beatz is somebody I headhunted as a fan of Touchline’s music. He’s turned out to be somebody that can cater well to my style. Lunatik & Johnny Basz I have long-term working relationships with. The featured artists are people I picked as perfect pieces to the puzzles I was putting together.”

In December 2023, Zingah revealed he had recorded a song with K.O which he hoped would be part of this project, but he said he will share it in future.

“There’s a song I have with K.O that I had to pull off the project, we'll hopefully be able to put it out in the future.”

While Zingah has been signed with DJ Maphorisa before, he now has a distribution deal with SOL Distro.

“I chose SOL Distro because I have a good relationship with Slikour. It also gives me the opportunity to be more in control of what I do musically and to be able to directly focus on my own fan base.”

In addition to his music, Zingah has also been making waves in the podcasting world with Choppin It With Bhuda T.

“How I balance the podcasting and music is something I still have to figure out. What I know is that for as long as I love doing both, I know I will be able to find a way to contribute to both sufficiently.

“It’s at a place where it’s about consistency and feeding the audience what they enjoy.

“The plan is to grow the guest list more outside musicians and specifically hip hop ones too. To get to a point where we can sit down with any and everybody.”
