Slikour is grateful for a second chance at life after surviving a hit-and-run incident.

The rapper and entrepreneur took to his Instagram timeline on Sunday to share a video of him in hospital, recounting how the incident occurred while he was out for a run.

“I’m OK, thank God, but what traumatised me is when the nurse at the hospital told me how often hit-and-run patients get admitted in South Africa. I know there’s a community of us doing our jogs and walks. I appeal to you to be vigilant. These perpetrators don’t care about you and your health goals or whatever gets you up.

“Also, I know if I was listening to Kendrick and not Drake on my pods this wouldn’t of happened. Seriously though, be safe out there, there are many families out there and I’m only posting this because I’m grateful my situation wasn’t worse and wouldn’t want anyone else experiencing it.”

Speaking to TshisaLIVE, Slikour, whose real name is Siya Matane, said he only sustained swelling and a cut after being hit by a car.

“I was lucky nothing broke or my back or my legs weren’t hit.”

Slikour said he wanted to create awareness among roadrunners and cyclists to be careful and look out for  negligent drivers.

“What scared me most is hearing how common hit-and-runs are and that’s the only reason I posted to make people aware, but mostly just being grateful that I came out alive and can say something about it.”
