As the wife of Springbok rugby star Eben Etzebeth, singer and actress Anlia has experienced her fair share of excitement and challenges.

Their love story began when they met in 2021 in Cape Town. Six months into their relationship, Eben proposed to Aniela on her birthday in France.

“We clicked right away. We were also at a nice age where both of us knew what we wanted in a relationship. We spoke on the phone for hours,” she told TshisaLIVE.

With Eben's career, Anlia said they've had to move around a lot, so she put her own career on hold to support him and build a family.

“I became pregnant soon after we got married so I took my career a bit easy. I decided I wanted to put family first and being a mom first, raising my girl. I love being a mom and I love being a wife to Eben and supporting him.

“Playing that role is bigger than any role I could imagine. When I was younger, dreaming of big roles, going overseas and travelling the world with singing, this role is the biggest for me.”

Now, Anlia is slowly getting back into her music and acting career. She's working on a new song and has several other projects in the pipeline but admits it's not easy balancing her career with motherhood.

“I am still trying to find my feet and see how to juggle that with mom life.”

One of the highlights of her experience as a WAG was singing the national anthem at Eben's 100th Test match.

“It was such a goosebumps moment. Eben and I were engaged then so it was such a special moment with him on the field.”

When asked about her marriage, Aniela gushed about her love for Eben. “Marriage is amazing. I recommend it.”

However, she acknowledges the challenges that come with being in a high-profile relationship.

“There is a lot of travelling, there are some sacrifices. There can be weeks that go by where we don't see each other. It's nice that we understand each other. It's important to communicate and talk about everything constantly and be a safe space for each other and put each other first.”
