The mother of internationally acclaimed producer and composer Lebo M, Nomvula Morake, who died on February 28 at the age of 100, received her send-off on Tuesday.

The funeral took place at the Fourways Memorial Chapel in Gauteng before heading to the Fourways Memorial Cemetery.

Among the mourners were celebrities Duma Ka Ndlovu, Tbo Touch, Phil Molefe, Anele Mdoda, Khuzani, Kwela Tebza and  Vukile Zondi.

Gospel singer Khaya Mthethwa gave messages of comfort to Morake's family from a recording.

The Soweto Spiritual Singers choir performed on stage with Lebo M.

On the podium, matron Renee Richards from the Waterfall Frail Care Centre reflected on the years Magogo Morake lived at the centre

"Magogo Morake was a joyful person. She was famously known at the centre for her jokes and singing abilities," she said.

Her daughter Lindi Morake paid a moving tribute to her late mother.

"Mama was a strong person. She dedicated her life to everyone by showing love and respect.  She was a  lovely person to have around and was active. You'd think she wasn't 100 years old," she said.
