Legendary kwaito singer Sbu Ma'lawyer is expected to dazzle the crowd at Radio 2000 Family Day 2025.
The much-anticipated inaugural event, described as a celebration of music, family, food and fun, will take place on Saturday, March 22, at the Fat Olive Venue in Lanseria, northwest of Johannesburg.
Music lovers will be in for a treat with live performances from some of South Africa’s biggest artists, including Mafikizolo, Trompies, Thebe, Ishmael, Sbu Ma'lawyer, Gwyza, AV RainCandy and some surprise acts.
Speaking to TshisaLIVE, Sbu Ma'lawyer said he's excited to be part of the event.
“I'm looking forward to take the fans down memory lane to where we come from with kwaito music and of course they'll reminisce about the good old days when the genre used to be the voice of the oppressed. Most of the people who'll be attending the event are adults who experienced the apartheid era. So, certainly they'll be entertained,” he said.
Radio 2000 Family Day 2025 will offer something for everyone, from children to adults, ensuring a delightful atmosphere where memories can be made. Attendees can look forward to an exciting KidsZone, featuring exhilarating activities such as jumping castles, bungee trampolines and swings. Among other activities, there will be a five-a-side soccer tournament featuring SABC Sport personalities.
“We are beyond excited to bring Family Day 2025 to life. This event is all about celebrating the things that matter most — great music, family connections, delicious food, and unforgettable fun. We can't wait to welcome our family of listeners to enjoy this day with us,” said SABC Fortune Combo business manager Anthony Solgo.
SABC radio marketing manager Lydia Mtshali added: “We are delighted to host our inaugural Radio 2000 Family Day. This event is the station’s second station-owned property after iYouth Endala, that focuses on a mature audience, which is young at heart. The family day aims to cater for the whole family and will allow our listeners, young and old, to meet and engage with their favourite Radio 2000 presenters and immerse themselves in the brand in a relaxed, family environment.”
