Orlando Pirates goalkeeper Melusi Buthelezi has allegedly failed to attend a Randburg magistrate's court case over child maintenance instituted by his baby mama.

According to the baby mama, Melusi has not provided proof of income and proof of his expanses. "Melusi doesn't take our child's issues seriously and he is just going about his business. I'm disappointed with his antics but I have faith in our courts that this issue will be resolved in a responsible way.

"Melusi and his legal team didn't pitch for our previous court hearing," she alleged. "Melusi’s actions towards this matter are unfortunate. They demonstrate a complete disregard for the court and its directives. However, the matter is before the court and I am confident the outcome will be in the best interests of the child."

TshisaLIVE has learnt that Melusi and the mother of his child are set to return to court on June 10. Asked for comment, Melusi declined and hung up his phone.

When called for comment in January, Melusi said: “I am being taken to court because my baby mama wants R12,000 maintenance and I can't afford it. I know the lady from YouTube, I have children with her.”
