Rapper Slikour is making his return to the music scene.
Slikour, real name Siyabonga Metane, is a musician, entrepreneur and founding member of the hip-hop group Skwatta Kamp. He is known for songs including Shine, Dreamer and Umsindo. He last released a single in 2011.
Speaking to TshisaLIVE, Slikour said he might be bouncing back into the recording booth.
“I know it's been a while since I last released music, but my fans will get something from me as far as music is concerned”, he said.
Last year, Slikour said heritage contributed to the music he records.
“It comes out organically in the choral sounds we use, the words we speak, the backgrounds we come from, and the tempo of the music. It’s almost ingrained that even if you are doing something that’s not your heritage, such as hip-hop, we find ourselves recreating it based on our heritage and influences”, he said.
Earlier this year, Slikour survived a hit and run incident. The rapper and entrepreneur took to his Instagram timeline to share a video of him in the hospital, recounting how the incident occurred while he was out for a run.
“I’m OK, thank God, but what traumatised me is when the nurse at the hospital told me how often hit and run patients are admitted. I know there’s a community of us doing jogs and walks. I appeal to you to be vigilant. The perpetrators don’t care about you and your health goals or whatever gets you up”.
