The organisers of Phola Sunday have promised fireworks with top music DJs to perform at the event
Phola Sunday is set to take place on April 20 at Scotch and Sofa in Daveyton, and will feature DJs Maphorisa, Zeedan, Gmbos, D'Rehab, Dlala Regal, Master Keke and many others.
According to event organiser Zwelakhe Masango, Phola Sunday was established in 2023 with the aim of introducing local traditional cuisine to the masses after the successful Dig In Kasi food launch.
“Our vision is to build a community where people can chill, have nice food, listen to good music and also engage on social issues and business ideas. Phola Sundays will be used as that vehicle to foster and manage that culture. In our journey, we have hosted numerous celebrity DJs from the legendary DJ Vinny Da Vinci, Rulf Gum, Christos and, the most recent, DJ Zeedan from Addicted to house and DJ Maphorisa,” he said.
“Our Phola Sunday events have been a resounding success, providing a vibrant platform to showcase our culinary delights. Our upcoming event, 'The Hangover Easter Edition', scheduled for April 20, promises to be a breathtaking electrifying experience. The event will take place at Scotch and Sofa car wash, on the corner of Moloko and Seiso streets in Daveyton.”
Deep house Gmbos said: “What people can expect from me in future are more productions from my label Gmbos Records. We will be pressing new vinyls. Me, Nick Holder and Ralf Gum from GoGo Music are in joint venture to keep the movement going and I am currently working on my new EP, Gmbos — Mythological, which I will be releasing in June.”
