Congratulations are in order for DJ Funk DeepStar following his graduation.
The deep house DJ, whose real name is Machela Matumo, is popularly known for his Soul Candi compilations and has been part of the music scene since 2003.
He received a cybersecurity qualification during a graduation ceremony at the University of Johannesburg's Bunting Road campus.
Cybersecurity courses cover a wide range of topics, from foundational concepts to specialised areas like ethical hacking and digital forensics.
The Let's Play House Sessions compiler proudly shared on his social page: "I secure data #Cybersecurity #Graduationvibes."
"I can’t publicly say much about this. I don’t want to give out much information to the public regarding this profession as I deal with security of very sensitive information. I will compromise myself," he told TshisaLIVE.
Last year DJ Funk DeepStar told TshisaLIVE his sound equipment business, Thakgowa Events Management, had helped him spread his wings in the music industry.
“In this journey I've encountered venues that had the best sound system in the game and some that had some of the worst a DJ would ever want to see," he said.
“I invested in buying a proper sound system and other apparatus to earn extra cash."
