Amapiano star Scotts Maphuma has missed gigs after his grandfather died.

The Ngibolekeni hitmaker revealed on the L-Tido podcast he recently lost his grandfather.

“My grandad passed away recently and I couldn’t go out to buy a T-shirt because people would approach me for photos. Will they understand I’m not in the right headspace?” he said.

This week, in a social media statement, he said he missed gigs due to the sudden loss.

“Good day to all my fans. On April 25 I was booked at:

  • Habanero Shisanyama, Menlyn;
  • Blue Room, CBD;
  • Europa, Pretoria; and
  • Tman Xpress Jamboree, Soweto.

“I had a sudden loss in my immediate family and I was unable to attend these gigs. I apologise to the promoters and fans and promise we will rectify the situation and find a new date for these gigs. I thank you for understanding and hope to see you soon.”
