After the release of his self-titled album in November 2024, Malik Zwane is set to give his fans a one-night only experience at Hard Rock Cafe in Johannesburg on June 5.

The album is a combination of Afrosoul, Afrobeat, RnB rhythms and singalong melodies and has won many hearts.

Previously Malik had stepped back to take a break from the music scene.

“I did not intentionally take a break from the industry. I stepped away from the limelight it comes with. I continued producing for other artists, produced a lot of music for TV and radio. I got a chance to see my artistry in the industry from a different angle since I was not in the game for the first time. It made me realise where I should position myself as a singer and how I should be comfortable with the music I write and produce.

“I put the same amount of energy and spirit into each track I write, sing and produce. Hit song or not, I give each song the best of me. I will be lying if I say the next hit will be Testify, because if you ask me the same question tomorrow it will be Fly or Bayakhula Abantwana Bam. The inspiration behind Bayakhula Abantwana Bam is a prayer to God, to protect them in the evils of this world. I believe every father wants to see their children do greater in life. This song is about that.”

Asked what fans can expect from his performance at Hard Rock Cafe, he said: “Live show preparations entail long hours of rehearsals because you must give your best during a performance. The atmosphere should shout love, happiness, freedom, including creating a memorable experience for the audience.

“It is intimate, luxurious, classy. Let me stop there because my description will not do justice to this venue. You have to be there to experience it. It is a place which will make your event unforgettable.”
