Reality TV stars Clayton Mitchell and his partner Wilfred Adonis, known for their relationship on Netflix's Love Never Lies, have announced their break-up.
On Monday the couple revealed they had parted ways.
“The decision wasn't easy. A few months ago Wilfred and I decided to go our separate ways. I will always love him but I realise we're hurting each other and need to grow. I will always love him and wish him all the best,” Clayton wrote.
Wilfred also took to his timeline to share the news, speaking candidly about how the break-up affected him.
“I'll always love you, but now I'm giving that love to the one who needs it most — me.”
“I managed to let him go, it still hurts, but I need to love myself first.”
The couple, who joined the show after dating for a year and eight months, had been open about their struggles, including infidelity and trust issues.
During their time on the show Clayton admitted to cheating and the couple had previously taken a break. Despite their challenges, they expressed intentions to take their relationship to the next level, moving in together in Johannesburg.
At the reunion, the former couple said while they were not formally engaged they intended to take their relationship to the next level which led to them moving from Cape Town to a flat in Johannesburg.
