Babes Wodumo shared a special encounter with the father of her late husband Mandla “Mampintsha” Maphumulo, who died on December 24 2022 after a stroke.
While performing at the EFF's Youth Day celebration in Umlazi, Durban, on Monday, the gqom star spotted Mampinstha's father, Thembinkosi Maphumulo, in the crowd and later escorted him to the VIP section.
The two spent quality time together and reminisced about memories of Mampintsha.
Their reunion coincided with Mampintsha's son's birthday.
Speaking to TshisaLIVE, Babes said she was happy to spend time with Thembinkosi on such a special day.
“June 16 has always been a bittersweet day for us since our son was born. Every year I have to leave him to go work instead of celebrating his birthday because it's a busy day for me as an artist, even when his father was alive,” she told TshisaLIVE.
“Mampintsha's father and I have a relationship but don't see each other often. We were in the neighbourhood where Mampintsha grew up. I was excited to see the father of my husband, it reminded me of Mampintsha, who used to call him Mseshi. What excited me is I met him on his son's birthday. We were together until about 10pm.”
