The spirit of legendary actress Connie Chiume will live on through the launch of the Connie Chiume Film Festival, a celebration that promises to ignite Mzansi’s creative arts space.

The official launch event, held on Thursday at the Sibikwa Arts Centre in Benoni, was attended by Oros Mpofu, Buhle Mda, Itumeleng Bokaba, Vuyo Novokoza and Noluthando Rotwane.

The festival, presented by the Connie Chiume Foundation, will run from July 18 to 20 and aims to inspire, showcase and uplift emerging talent in the film and arts space, a cause close to Connie’s heart throughout her decades-long career.

Mzansi continues to mourn the loss of the award-winning actress, known internationally for her role in Black Panther. Connie passed away at the age of 72 at Garden City Hospital in Johannesburg in August last year.

With her name etched in the South African entertainment history, the festival is shaping up to be a powerful tribute to her passion, mentorship and larger-than-life legacy.
