Woodblock DJs are beaming with pride after they bagged a double platinum certificate for their hit single Skuta Baba remix.
The remix, featuring artists Cassper Nyovest, Kwesta, Buzzi Lee, Tony Dayimane, Kane Keid, Mvelost and Set Off, has not only dominated streaming charts but also went viral on social media platforms, garnering 98,438 views.
“I wanted this remix to feel like the streets — raw, alive and honest. Every artist brought their truth to the table and you can hear it in every verse. Double Platinum is a blessing, but for me, the biggest win was seeing our sound unite so many voices,” Sicelo “Scelo” Nkomo, one half of the duo and the lead producer behind the remix, told TshisaLIVE.
Xolani Majozi, CEO of SoldOut Media who manages the group, said this milestone was a representation of the future of collaborative, independent and digitally-driven music in South Africa.
“When we say this is a win for all of us, we mean it. This plaque reflects not just the strength of a great remix, but the power of collaboration, consistency and culture. South African music is standing tall because we’re learning to do it together.”
