Orlando Pirates second choice goalkeeper Melusi Buthelezi has been told to take court proceedings seriously.

Melusi attended a child maintenance case in Randburg magistrate's court a fortnight ago after he allegedly previously skipped court proceedings over maintenance instituted by his baby mama.

TshisaLIVE is in possession of a video clip were the magistrate gave Melusi a tongue-lashing for not respecting the court when ordered to attend.

“You need to stop making excuses. You were ordered to be in this court at 8.30am and now we had to wait for you, so everybody must wait for you and our lives need to stand still because of you. So why do you think you're special? I think you need to apologise because our lives had to stand still because of you.”

According to a source, Melusi tried to dribble himself out of the next court date, saying he would not be available as he would be in Spain with his team.

“The court followed up on Melusi's claim and it was discovered the team will release him from his duties to attend court. The sad part is if he respected the law we wouldn't be in this situation.”

TshisaLIVE has learnt Melusi and the mother of his child are set to return to court on August 4. Asked for comment, Melusi declined and switched off his phone.
