Nonku Williams has defended herself after she shot up trends lists for how she navigated her five-year friendship with her co-star Jojo Robinson.
The reality TV stars have had viewers invested in their friendship since season two when Jojo joined The Real Housewives of Durban and were dubbed as “Joku”. But their friendship later showed cracks after Nonku said she was only friends with Jojo for the show and didn't feel they had a real connection.
Nonku also mentioned on the show that she could not be friends with Jojo unless she became a Christian.
During part 2 of the reunion episode which aired on Friday, Jojo said she was confused as to why they had a fallout and hadn't heard from Nonku in a month.
“It's been a lot — from everybody, from social media. I feel like nobody believed in us and we finally got to a place where people were like 'Joku',” she said.
“I don't know what happened. I'm confused till today. I don't know why things changed, and I don't know why it happened the way it did and I ended up looking like some desperate loser that has no friends. But it wasn't the case, with her it was like she was family and I didn't understand.”
Jojo and Sorisha Naidoo said they believed the reason Jojo was not a priority in Nonku's life was because she was focused on her friendship with Beverley Steyn of The Real Housewives Ultimate Girls Trip.
Responding to the claim, Nonku took to her timeline to share a picture of herself with Beverley with the caption: “To all the lovely people who’ve taken an interest in my life, I want to share a little bit about my beautiful friendship with Bev.
“We met in Jamaica and it was as if the Lord brought us together at the perfect time. When I discovered we shared a deep faith, our bond grew stronger. Bev’s story, her heart and her unwavering commitment to God have inspired me to grow spiritually in ways I never thought possible.
“Our friendship isn’t about comparisons or external expectations; it’s about two sisters in Christ coming together, supporting each other and growing in faith. We speak every day, pray together and share in each other’s joys and struggles. Through our daily prayers and shared experiences, I’ve found a true partner in Bev. What I cherish most about our friendship is the deep connection we share as believers. We’ve found a common ground in our faith and it’s beautiful to see how God is working in both our lives.
“I’m grateful for Bev’s love, support and prayers. She’s more than just a friend; she’s a sister in Christ who understands me in a way that few others can.
“To Bev, I want to say thank you for being an incredible friend, for praying with me and for being a constant source of encouragement. I’m honoured to walk this journey with you and I look forward to seeing how God continues to work in our lives.”
