In honour of women’s month, the I Am A Woman of Influence Foundation is presenting its seventh annual high tea event, a prestigious and heartfelt gathering aimed at empowering women and girls in South Africa.
This year’s high tea will take place on August 9 in Johannesburg and August 10 in Durban, under the theme “Rebuilding and Restoration of the Mother and Daughter Relationship and Bond”.
Founded by businesswoman and philanthropist Gugu Khathi, the foundation continues to create safe, high-end platforms where serious societal challenges can be addressed with grace, glamour and purpose.
“These events are designed to tackle critical issues affecting women and girls, such as gender-based violence and intergenerational trauma by fostering honest conversations in uplifting spaces,” Gugu said.
This year, each city’s event will be hosted by influential mothers and daughters. Johannesburg will be hosted by Khanyi Mbau and her daughter and Durban will be hosted by Sorisha Naidoo and her daughter.
The Victorian High Tea theme sets the tone for a regal and elegant affair, with guests encouraged to wear matching mother-daughter outfits to symbolise unity, love and restoration. Beyond the fashion and finery, the programme will feature inspiring speakers including celebrity women who will share their personal stories of resilience, motherhood and healing.
Speakers will explore the unique dynamics between mothers and their daughters, unpacking how the strength of this bond can be a foundation for societal change.
