International influencers have complained about what they describe as SA’s “totally unfair national rizz”, saying that it’s getting increasingly difficult to emulate local trends because “you guys slay without even trying”.

Mzansi’s culture has been taking the world by storm, from music to food to fashion, but not everyone is happy.

According to one US influencer, who asked not to be named for fear of being cringe, it was getting increasingly difficult to keep up with the tastes, trends and energy of SA.

“One of my friends came up and was all like, ‘Bro, have you heard I’m a piano?’ and I was like nah, bro, I hadn’t heard that you’re a piano, but it’s 2025 so if you want to be a piano then I will love and respect that. And he was like ‘Nah, bro, amapiano.’

“Big yikes. My clout is gone. I might as well go farm auras or alpacas or something.”

London food influencer Vanilla Bland said that her first visit to SA last year had been a “career disaster”.

“I loved my time there,” she said, “but when I got home to damp little England and went into my damp little kitchen, and there was no chakalaka or tshisa nyama or pap and wors or bobotie or Streetwise Two or vetkoek or koesisters, I thought: what’s the point of carrying on? Am I really going to go back to making content about the best way to boil a carrot?”

One US celeb knows that the only cure for FOMO is NOMO — never once miss out — and he’s coming to Msanzi to ride our latest wave of innovation: Kentucky Town

She said her friends had been trying to cheer her up since she got back, but it wasn’t working.

“Last week my besties came round and made waffles but it just reminded me of Uncle Waffles playing on the radio when I had my first bunny chow.

“They saw I Iooked sad so they said don’t worry, just wait till they spill the latest tea — and all I could think was, ‘Is it Rooibos, because otherwise I’m not really interested.’”

But one US celeb knows that the only cure for FOMO is NOMO — never once miss out — and he’s coming to Msanzi to ride our latest wave of innovation, Kentucky Town, going nationwide across SA as it unveils an all-new, once-in-a-lifetime, taste bud-exploding menu featuring seven new taste wins.

On the menu? Hot Honey Dunked Wings, Doritos Cheezy Loaded Fries, Jalapeño Blaze Double Down, Six Gun Grill Zinger Braai Burger, Doritos Cheezy Nacho Burger, Chilli Choc Krusher and Cherry Boba Bliss.

TikTok superstar foodie Tyshon Lawrence has travelled the world chasing the ultimate taste, and while Paris is OK he knows it just can’t compete with Parys as SA once again leads the pack. Which is why he’s decided to come where it’s all happening, joining Kentucky Town mayor Mateki2Shoes to see if he can keep up with our drip and snag a meal that’ll change his life.

Insiders say there are no limits where Kentucky Town is concerned, and when Lawrence takes on the fierce Jalapeño Blaze Double Down, it’s going to be fire.

“I’ve got Kentucky Town envy, obviously,” said Vanilla Bland when she heard about Lawrence's adventure. “But the truth is if I had one bite of the Jalapeño Blaze Double Down, or one sip the Chilli Choc Krusher or Cherry Boba Bliss, it would all be over. I’d never be able to go back to London. So maybe it’s better that I just stay here and dream ...”
