Former Muvhango star and seasoned TV presenter Busisiwe Kunene has launched a thought-provoking podcast that dives into the real stories of everyday South Africans, far beyond glitz and gossip.
Busisiwe, who became a household name for her role as Agnes in the SABC2 soapie Muvhango, is again stepping into the spotlight — this time behind the mic. She’s joined forces with voices from all walks of life to create a podcast, Precious Moments, that goes deep into the issues and experiences affecting ordinary South Africans.
Speaking to TshisaLIVE, Busisiwe reflected on her journey in the entertainment industry, which began long before her acting days.

“I've been a TV presenter since 1996 on Eco Act, an environmental programme. I moved on to Sasko Sam and later co-hosted Young Tongues with Bonginkosi 'Zola 7' Dlamini on Take 5, where we tackled social issues such as teenage pregnancy,” she said.
Despite her experience and talent, Busisiwe acknowledged the industry hasn’t always been kind or consistent. “The indusiustry is not as accommodating as before, so I decided to employ myself,” she added.
That determination led her to the podcasting world where she’s using her platform to bring underrepresented voices to the fore.
“This is not a gossip or celebrity podcast. We talk to people from all walks of life — the sort of stories an ordinary South African would want to hear and engage with.”
So far, guests have included:
- Felicia Goosen, who was born in a jail in Thailand while her mother was imprisoned for alleged drug smuggling;
- Phinah Kodisang, the CEO of Soul City Institute, who shared her inspiring journey of leadership and empowerment; and
- Tebogo Majolane, who transitioned from media sales to founding an initiative that mentors young boys to become responsible men.
While the show is self-funded, Busisiwe is seeking sponsors to support its growth. “The vision is to see it grow to greater heights beyond South African borders,” she said, proudly noting the podcast has already reached listeners in Asmara, Eritrea.
The show releases new episodes every second month, airing on Wednesday evenings at 7pm.
