A bold new poetry production is set to ignite the stage at the Bunting Theatre from September 16 to 20 as UJ arts and culture teams up with the Market Theatre Foundation’s Kwasha! Theatre Company for Revolution of Words.
Penned by celebrated poet and performer Lebogang Mashile, the production fuses grade 11 and 12 prescribed poetry with the fierce and fresh voices of today, brought to life by the ensemble from Kwasha!. The result is a powerful intergenerational dialogue that explores the soul of South African poetry, its past, present and the revolution it continues to inspire.
Directed by Khethukuthula Jele, with choreography by Sinenhlanhla Mgeyi, Revolution of Words promises a visceral experience where movement, spoken word,and performance collide.
The cast includes Andile Mgeyi, Thingo Mcanyana, Gofaone Bodigelo, Londa Mkhize and Makotone Jack Mabokachaba.
