Seasoned radio presenter Makhosi Khoza appointed Rise FM station manager

Veteran broadcaster and beloved radio personality Makhosi Khoza has stepped into a new leadership role.

Veteran broadcaster and radio personality Makhosi Khoza has stepped into a new leadership role as t station manager at Rise FM, the Mpumalanga-based commercial radio station.

Speaking to TshisaLIVE, Makhosi said: "It was a rigorous process but I'm uber excited to tackle the challenge. Mpumalanga has always had a special place in my heart. I have done morning and night drive shows on Rise FM, and my son was born here. I'm here to work and look forward to engaging all our stakeholders and re-energising the brand," he said.

Makhosi, known for his commanding voice and charismatic presence on air, brings more than a decade of experience in the broadcasting industry. His journey with Rise FM started years ago when he built a strong rapport with listeners through  prime-time shows. His return in a management capacity is seen as a homecoming of sorts, this time with a broader vision to drive the station forward.

Colleagues and fans have flooded social media with congratulatory messages, praising his dedication to the craft and deep understanding of the province's cultural and entertainment landscape.

In a statement, Rise FM’s board expressed full confidence in Makhosi’s ability to steer the station into a new era of innovation and community connection.

“Makhosi is a natural leader with an unmatched passion for radio and Mpumalanga’s unique listener base. We believe he will elevate the station in content and reach,” the board said.

Makhosi’s appointment comes at a time when the station is looking to strengthen its brand identity and expand its audience digitally and on-air. He said his focus will be on impactful local content, community involvement and building a strong team that reflects the diversity and vibrancy of Mpumalanga.

“We want Rise FM to not only be heard but felt. Radio should reflect the heartbeat of the people, and that’s exactly what I plan to do with this incredible team,” he told TshisaLIVE.
