Simone Vos, winner of Food Weekly's Best Tasting Chocolate Cake competition last year, has some advice - and inspiration - for those entering this year
Do you still bake the winning sinful chocolate-strawberry cake?
People keep asking for it and I've made it in so many different ways. I've even baked it into a giant cupcake and someone recently asked for the cake in the shape of a female torso with big boobs.
An auditor winning a chocolate cake competition; has it changed your life?
It made me realise how I should follow my dreams and make something out of my baking. It has made me enjoy baking so much more and I'm now brave enough to experiment with different recipes and ideas.
What do you believe gave your cake the winning edge?
The amazing chocolatey flavour - and the thick layer of chocolate ganache on the cake.
Do you have any tips for anyone entering the competition?
Just have fun and enjoy it as much as I did. And don't get too nervous in front of the TV cameras.
