My Weekend: Jason von Berg chats to the star couple of Gang of Instrumentals about their time away from the studio.

What do you get up to at weekends?

Mandla: Most of the time we're performing, but when we have some down time, it's family time. We go for picnics to the zoo. Now that we have a little one we watch quite a bit of animation TV. Kung Fu Panda seems to be the favourite.

Tumi: That's your favourite, her (the couple's child's) favourite is Tweenies!

What's your idea of weekend food and drink?

Tumi: I'm always in the mood for soul food on weekends. Dumplings and gravy. A lovely glass of Sangria to go with it is always good.

Mandla: I'm always on the go, so I'm big on the Nando's Bafana Bafana meal. It's nice and it's huge. We all share it, except for Bongo because he's vegetarian, which means more for us!

You're escaping for the weekend, where would you go?

Tumi: Jamaica - fabulous concerts, great partying and beautiful beaches. Locally, I would go back to the uShaka Marine World in Durban for shark diving and snorkelling.

Mandla: We also love Cape Town, big up to the Mother City because they really like our sound.
