One final bedtime story from the late Chris van Wyk

Beloved South African poet and author Chris van Wyk passed away last week. Van Wyk was best known for his anti-Apartheid poem ‘In Detention’ and his two memoirs, ‘Shirley, Goodness and Mercy’ and ‘Eggs to Lay, Chickens to Hatch’.

He was equally heralded and loved for his children’s books. One of his last pieces, ‘Mr Hare Meets Mr Mandela’, was published in the ‘Sunday Times Storytime’ anthology.
