Siyaya stretches into siyaya-yaya

BRUCE FRASER | 26 March, 2012 20:39
The jimmijagga limo taxi is a siyaya that has been changed to a siyaya-yaya and we're not stretching the truth

If Parkhurst and Melville are your favourite spots for an after-work drink, chances are you've come across the jimmijagga limo taxi.

And no, you haven't been seeing things after one too many - it really is a stretched taxi that has been getting a lot of attention.

Named after a new fusion wine spritzer range, the jimmijagga taxi is becoming a sought-after accessory in music videos, for girls' nights out and for boys looking for a different kind of night on the town.

Gareth Haarhoff, director of Innovations and Ready to Drinks at KWV, says: "We asked our creative team to think of things that added an extraordinary twist to the ordinary, something no one had ever thought of. Pretty simple brief - or so we thought.

"When we pulled up at the Limo Builders in the original siyaya taxi and asked them if they could stretch it into a siyaya-yaya, they laughed.

"Why don't you bring us a Hummer or a Chrysler 300 or something like that?"

"Our response? Because there's no fun in stretching something that already looks pimped out, and it's been done before.

"There's a lot of comedy in turning a minibus into a "limo", which has probably never even been thought of before."
