The National Union of Mine workers said yesterday that three workers were killed a week ago at Aurora's Grootvlei mine while waiting to be paid.

But the company said it knew of only one death.

Aurora spokesman Sheshile Ngubane said the company was making the funeral arrangements.

NUM spokesman Lesiba Seshoka said it was not known if the deaths were related to conditions at the mine.
