Walvis Bay brings out the adrenalin junkie in Dileseng Koetle

This was truly one of the best journeys of my life. A highly exotic destination, Walvis Bay offers the best of two extremes - the desert and the ocean - in close proximity. What I loved the most was its privacy and the perfect balance of relaxation and adrenaline.

To unwind in the gorgeous weather, I walked along the beach and swooned over the flocks of hot pink flamingoes and seals I spotted on the shore. To satisfy my city-girl thrills, I ventured on a dune-buggy trail, riding the dips and highs of Dune 7.

I was even lucky enough to see a tiny desert snake on the sand dunes.

Walvis Bay is an addictive mirage that brought out the adrenaline junkie in me, as well as moments of introspection and appreciation of Africa's natural beauty.
