The SA National Blood Service is urging people to donate blood, saying its stock was running low.

The blood stockpile was sitting at a reserve of 2.6 days, instead of the five days required, spokeswoman Marelda Sibanyoni said.

People wanting to donate should be between 16 and 65 years old, weigh more than 50kg, be in good health and live a sexually safe lifestyle.
