Winning a beauty pageant, having family in the industry and being a supermodel are among the most guaranteed ways of securing a place in Bollywood.

But even being a supermodel comes with its fair share of challenges in an industry which is volatile and fiercely competitive. The lists of supermodels who have made waves in the industry include Arjun Ramphal, Upen Patel, Dino Morea, John Abraham and Muzamhil Ibrahim.

While some have achieved mediocre success, it's undoubtedly Ramphal and Abraham who have fought off stiff competition and rank among the hottest and most popular model-turned-actors.

Ramphal, who has a rock-solid personal life and an affiliation to the Shahrukh Khan camp, has been exceptionally successful, but it's the ruggedly handsome Abraham who has gradually climbed the ladder of success with impressive performances in hits such as Dostana, Dhoom, New York and Water.

Voted recently as the Sexiest Bachelor in the industry, Abraham, who will be seen soon in the high-voltage action entertainer Force, has been making news more for his personal turmoil than professional success.

It was during the making of his debut, Jism, in 2002 that the fitness freak, who also studied media advertising, met the sexy Bipasha Basu who was riding the crest of the wave with Ajnabee and Raaz. Basu, who was then dating Dino Morea, could not resist Abraham's charm and these two stars started a relationship that fizzled out this year when Abraham said he was not ready to commit to marriage.

Last seen in the debacle Jhoota Hi Sahi as solo lead and earlier this year in Saat Khoon Maaf, Abraham has secured some interesting movies which should showcase his immense talent. Force promises loads of hard-core action, and he has also signed for prestigious movies such as Shootout at Wadala, the comedies Desi Boyz and the sequel to Houseful - two movies that feature Akshay Kumar as his co-star. While there are rumours that the "Garam Masala" team play rival pole dancers in Desi Boyz, their co-stars are Deepika Padukone and Chitrangda Singh.

The other exciting film that promises to be a blockbuster is Houseful 2, which also features Jacqueline Fernandez, Asin, Ritesh Deshmukh, Rishi Kapoor and Randir Kapoor.

It is, however, Sanjay Gupta's return to Bollywood in Shootout at Wadala that should test his acting ability in a riveting thriller when Abraham will don the role of a dreaded underworld gangster.

Another new project on the cards is Race 2 in which he plays the evil antagonist. While we wait for his exciting releases and more on his personal life, this simple and pleasant actor continues to make women go weak at the knees and squeal in absolute excitement every time he makes an appearance on screen.

It's his shirtless posters for Force that have also created a huge buzz in South Africa as his worshippers get ready to salute their very own Greek God.
