Last week marked the 25th anniversary of Manirathinam's Naayagan - which was voted by Time Magazine as one of the Top 30 films of the last century.

LEGAL ACTION

 To celebrate, Kamalhassan wrote a detailed account of his memories of the filming in which he spoke candidly about the restrictions placed on them by Muktha Srinivassan. Srinivassan was not happy about being spoken of this way in a public forum and is now instituting legal action against him.

PRAISE

BHARATH'S  Perarasu-directed Thiruthani was torn to shreds by critics while praise has been pouring in for the low-budget Pizza, which is said to redefine the thriller genre for Indian cinema. Within two days of being released, the number of screens showing Pizza had increased by 30%.

PREGNANT

KARTHI, who is expecting another hit with Alex Paandiyan, has another reason to celebrate. His wife, Ranjani, is pregnant with their first child. An excited Karthi took a few days off from shooting to be with her.

COMEDY

SHIVA, who is currently shooting Thillu Mullu and Sonnaa Puriyaadhu, has just been signed on to do another comedy directed by Rajesh - of Siva Manasule Sakthifame - titled Ya Ya.

NEW CAREER

VIJAY Milton, the cinematographer in the critically-acclaimed Vazhakku En 18/12, will direct the forthcoming Pasanga 2, which will feature many of the children seen in Pandiraj's Pasanga.
