A South African tertiary institution is attempting to tap into the Indian market.

Regenesys Business School, an online academy, has opened in Mumbai.

The academy, which allows students to access study material online for free, opened a Mumbai branch last month as part of its globalisation concept.

Marko Saravanja, chairman of Regenesys Business School, said the target market in India would be in line with what was required in that country.

"The initiative is aimed at anyone who needs to further their business knowledge and skills, from school leavers to entrepreneurs and business professionals,'' said Saravanja.

''Learning materials are available across various levels, from a certificate programme to an MBA degree, and anyone can access suitable material.

"Our executive education team in India will also be targeting organisations that need to train and develop their employees across various short programmes, which can be customised for the client."

Saravanja believes that, despite India's high standard of education, the institution will be able to carve out a spot in the country's competitive environment.

"Our qualifications are recognised internationally. The programme allows students from anywhere in India to study on their smartphone, tablet or PC - for free."
