Porsche has upgraded the Panamera's twin-turbo V8 engine to create the Turbo S. Priced from £131049 (about R2.135-million) the new model is available to order now for delivery in January in the United Kingdom.

The four-door, four-seater Panamera Turbo S has all-wheel drive and a twin-clutch, seven-speed transmission as standard. It accelerates from 0-100km/h in 3.8sec with a top speed of 309km/h.

The 37kW power increase is achieved with new turbochargers with larger compressors, as well as a higher injection pressure. There are also new pistons and rings.

There's also a 52Nm increase in torque for improved response, meaning 749kW between 2250 and 5000rpm, with the over-boost increasing to 800Nm.

Porsche's Sport Chrono package is standard and coordinates the chassis and drive-train configuration to guarantee consistently sporting responses.

Furthermore, the overboost function is activated in Sport and Sport Plus modes, as well as during kickdown in Normal mode.

The standard Porsche Active Suspension Management system combines adaptive air suspension and adaptive damper control.

The driver can choose from three performance maps: Comfort, Sport and Sport Plus.

Similarly, the adaptive air suspension offers the ability to activate different spring rates to introduce a greater range of chassis characteristics, giving the choice between comfort and firmness.

The Turbo S comes with Porsche Ceramic Composite Brakes as standard, as well as yellow-painted brake callipers. It is distinguished by 20-inch 911 Turbo II wheels.

Inside, two-tone leather trim is also standard.

According to Porsche South Africa, the Panamera Turbo S will be hitting our shores in the first quarter of next year. - ©The Daily Telegraph, London
