Cape Town was the only city chosen in South Africa, and needs public votes to fend off other African cities including Algeria’s Algiers, Morocco’s Marrakech and Tunisia’s Djerba.
To commemorate the 80th anniversary of Monopoly, toy maker Hasbro will release a new copy of the board game later this year, featuring cities chosen by public vote, reports Business Day.
Traditionally Monopoly has featured streets. This version will also have a travel theme and players will collect passport stamps as they play. Hasbro chose 80 cities to vote from online.
Voting is free and will run until March 4.
Tip: It's easier to find the world cities if you are already logged into a social media site like Facebook, otherwise it seems to default to the USA.
