Last night saw the start of the menswear focused collections, on the fourth evening of South African Fashion Week (#SAFW).

Here are some of the recurring trends that the Sunday Times Fashion Weekly team spotted on the runway:

UTILITY

Every season one is guaranteed to see different interpretations of the utility trend on the runway. This time around Hombre went all out military with their camouflage aesthetic.

Floyd Avenue took a more urban approach to the utility trend.

PRINTED BOMBER JACKET

Nothing epitomizes sleek street style as much as the perfect bomber jacket. This season the bomber gets an instant update with eccentric prints worn with neon colours as seen at House of Luke (below left) and complimenting bright green neon pants at Esnoko (below right)

THE NEW SUIT

On the runway last night we also saw a stylistic shift in the presentation of the classic suit.

Sleek navy suits worn with sheer under-layering caught our attention at Touch of Bling.

A mix of abstract shapes, prints on a colourful palettes with textured details like animal hide made Zamaswazi our best collection of the night.
