A land eviction outside Pretoria turned deadly when thousands of squatters turned on Red Ants employees, killing at least two and critically injuring six.

Squatters from Suurman, outside Hammanskraal, torched buses and trucks, and blockaded roads with rubble.

The Red Ants apparently arrived shortly after most people had left for work.

Community leaders said residents were given the land by the Traditional Council and that they have documents to prove it.

One of the residents in the area‚ who did not want to be identified‚ told TMG Digital that community members turned on the two men when they started demolishing their homes.
