Sunday Times Home editor Leana Schoeman recently attended the iconic Salone Del Mobile in Milan, one of the largest and most important furniture fairs in the world of interiors and design.

Here are a few of the trends she spotted:

1) A strong focus on small-space living has resulted in multi-functional designs combined with luxurious aesthetics.

2) The return of the vanity table and related accessories with strong design aesthetic.

3) Ornate detailing in furniture and surface design was prominent.

4) Accent carpets with bold colouring and graphic details are still ontrend.
