The J&B Met is one of the hottest events on the horse racing calendar - but it's not only about the horses. This event has become synonymous with some of the most creative, fun and sometimes downright wacky fashion around. Here are 11 outfits from previous years you just have to see

1. Gary Riskowitz (2011)

That hat is everything.

2. Chester and Maria Williams (2011)

Given the eye-searing combination of bright colours this couple is wearing, we're the ones who should be donning shades. Chester's suit is also ill-fitting and what's up with the bottom of Maria's dress?

3.  Lindiwe Suttle (2011)

Oh look, her dress is made of streamers.

4. Pearl Modiadie and Bujy Bikwa (2011)

We love Pearl... but not when she's dressed as Tinkerbell.

5. Michael Mol with Hlelo and Ntando Masina (2011)

Twins wearing matching outfits when they're six is super cute. When they're all grown up, not so much.

6. Somizi Mhlongo (2011)

One word: drama! It's absolutely outrageous and so SomGaga. (Read more: 10 things you need to know about Somizi, Idols SA's quirkiest judge.)

7. Qiqile Tonjeni, Aya Gidi and Lesley-Anne Adams (2014)

What on earth is going on here?

8. Tana Boshoff and Kevin Ellios (2014)

He's holding a pimp stick that has a lion's face on it. Need we say more?

9. Uyanda Mbuli (2013)

We have no problem with the outfit, but that hat looks like a very dangerous bird of prey has perched on her head.

10. Bonang Matheba and Somizi Mhlongo - again (2013)

Bonang looks like she's fashioned a fascinator out of one of the lace offcuts from her dress. Frankly, we're also a little disturbed by SomGaga's outfit - what's going on around his neck?

11. Anna-Marie Carney (2013)

One word: no.

Stand out at this year's events for all the right reasons. Here's what wear to the J&B Met to get on the best-dressed list.
