There is acceptable political opportunism - when parties take advantage of a rival party's misfortune - and then there is plain stupidity. This Mampara, Democratic Alliance mayoral candidate in Tshwane Solly Msimanga, tried to milk the violent anti-Thoko Didiza protests in which five people died to his advantage.Some protesters complained that they did not want a "Zulu from KwaZulu-Natal" to become mayor.Msimanga's desperation to defeat Didiza inspired the foolish idea that he jump on the tribalism bandwagon - and record a tribalistic advert, which was played on radio this week."How can a person from Zuma's KZN put our people first?" says the advert.This Mampara does not even deserve to chair a local stokvel, let alone run for mayor...
