Charl can feast, but not before saying Grace

Branden Grace will be back to defend his Alfred Dunhill Championship title, but the spectre of the player with the best record at Leopard Creek will loom equally large next week. Three-time champion Charl Schwartzel will also cut a formidable presence at the tournament on the outskirts of Malelane, Mpumalanga, while South Africa's triple threat will be completed by former Open champion Louis Oosthuizen.Schwartzel, winner of the event in 2004, 2012 and 2013, has also cracked the nod as one of the sponsors' invitees at next month's Nedbank Golf Challenge (NGC) - at Sun City - after Ernie Els was forced to withdraw because of injury.story_article_left1Schwartzel, who shot up the leaderboard at this week's DP World Tour Championship with a second- round 65 in Dubai, will bring much improved form. Even if he doesn't go all the way in Dubai, he can fine-tune his game for another assault on Leopard Creek as well as the NGC, a tournament he is yet to win.His success at the event in the Lowveld is well documented. The tournament launched his career and that of Adam Scott and Justin Rose. Schwartzel ominously noted that the course, which he rates as one of his favourites, always sparks something special in his game.Oosthuizen went one better by listing the course as his favourite in the country, although he is yet to win the event on the edge of the Kruger National Park. Having finished runner-up there in 2005 and last year, he feels the tournament with a purse of à1.5m owes him.Grace, who will also feature at the NGC, came close to breaking his duck in the majors this year. He was tied for the lead with three holes to play before dropping out of contention at this year's US Open at Chambers Bay. He eventually tied for fourth. He went on to finish third in the US PGA at Whistling Straits.Grace delivered a stellar performance in the Presidents Cup, finishing with an unblemished record.story_article_right2He teed off at the start of this week's DP World Tour as one of seven players still in contention for the Race to Dubai title. Overhauling Rory McIlroy and Danny Willett, however, seemed a tall order.Willett, last year's NGC champion, isn't among the entries for Leopard Creek despite that he played there last season. He has rather big fish to fry in Dubai and Leopard Creek understandably won't be front of his mind.It means the international contingent looks likely to be headed by flamboyant Frenchman Victor Dubuisson. The Cannes-born player at the start of the month pipped South Africa's Jaco van Zyl en route to his second Turkish Airlines Open title. He won his first in 2013...
