KwaZulu Natal nudists are welcome to make representations for a nude beach, Hibiscus Coast Mayor Cynthia Mqwebu was reported as saying.

The KZN Naturists’ Association had its inaugural meeting about a week ago, and according to the report on News 24 Christo Bothma, spokesperson for the association, said they would approach different municipalities to establish a nude beach.

Municipal spokesperson Simon Soboyisa had said they would not entertain public indecency on their beaches at the time, but on Tuesday Mqwebu said that people with different ideas were welcome to approach the municipality.

Mqwebu warned however, that municipal bylaws would have to be taken into consideration.

Max Mbili, the municipal manager, reportedly said that the mayor's permission would have to be granted, and public opinion tested otherwise it would be illegal.
