Days ahead of Mother's Day, Gogo Maweni gets to celebrate the gift of conceiving a child.

The popular sangoma took to her Instagram timeline on Wednesday excitedly announcing that she was pregnant: “Feeling fat lasts nine months, but the joy of becoming a mom again lasts forever.”

Gogo Maweni already has three children — her firstborn son from her previous relationship with an unidentified American man, her second son with actor Sthembiso Khoza, and another with former soccer star Siyabonga Zulu.

For months, she and her husband, Sabelo Magube, have been trying to expand their family through in vitro fertilisation (IVF).

According to Mayo Clinic, IVF is a complex series of procedures used to help with fertility or prevent genetic problems and assist with the conception of a child.

Gogo Maweni, real name Lee-Anne Mokopo, revealed to TshisaLIVE that she had previously experienced miscarriages but was excited about her latest pregnancy.

“We've been trying and haven't been getting it right but now I'm pregnant.  I had a miscarriage but now I'm pregnant officially,” she said. “It's been a lot of tries. We had two embryos but lost one. So now we have this one growing and I just want to keep it to myself with no noise and no drama. I want the baby to grow.

“When you do IVF you keep going back and you take the medication, then the tests will come out that you are positive. When you go through the scan you find out that there's no heartbeat then you try again and we tried again and now we are there.”

Gogo Maweni said she won't be revealing how far along she is because she wants to enjoy her pregnancy privately with her family.

“I had posted a video of the scan but then I thought let me take it down. My tummy is growing. I'm all moody but I'm fine. I'm just keeping to myself and making sure I am having a healthy pregnancy.”
