Lovers' quarrel ends with baby boy burning to death

An argument between a couple ended in tragedy when the boyfriend allegedly set their  home alight, killing a one-year-old baby.

Thuso Moalafi, 32, and his girlfriend arrived home at Dinokana village near Lehurutshe, in the North West, on Saturday evening.

Police spokesperson Captain Aafje Botma said an argument broke out and the man sprinkled paraffin over the bed before setting it alight.

Botma said the woman managed to rescue two of three children from the burning home.

The third child, a one-year-old boy, burned to death.

The man was arrested and appeared in the Lehurutshe magistrate's court on Monday, facing charges of murder and arson.

The case was postponed to December 18.
