A day-care centre in Ravensmead, Cape Town, was destroyed by fire at the weekend.

Fire and rescue spokesperson Jermaine Carelse said the fire broke out in the early hours of Sunday morning.

He said firefighters used forcible-entry tools to gain access to the building, adding that the structure was cordoned off and a building inspector called to assess the damage.
