Was this baby bird destined to die?

The young bird escaped the clutches of an African harrier hawk only to get snapped up by the jaws of a crocodile.

Juan Geyser captured this tragic fate at Sunset Dam, near the Lower Sabie camp in the Kruger National Park. 

The video starts with the hawk snatching a baby weaver bird from its nest. In what seems like a moment of good luck, the weaver falls out of the hawk's grasp and into the water. 

But, as the weaver struggles to get out of the water, a crocodile eyes an easy snack and snatches it.

"In the blink of an eye, the weaver was gone as the croc swallowed him whole. I felt sorry for the bird but this was what we had come to see - wildlife in action,” Geyser told Latestsightings.com.
