It is being reported that Meghan Markle's mom, Doria Rangland, is the frontrunner to walk her daughter down the aisle after her father, Thomas Markle, confirmed he would not be attending the royal wedding.

TMZ broke the news that Thomas Markle made the decision not to attend the wedding after it was confirmed that he was involved in a photo scandal. He made a deal with a photo agency to take pictures of him getting ready for the wedding.

He insisted that it was not about the money, but rather fixing the image the media had portrayed of him.

The US gossip site reported that Thomas thought previous pictures published of him in the run-up to the wedding made him appear "disheveled."

Kensington Palace released a statement asking for privacy ahead of the wedding on May 19, when Meghan will marry Prince Harry.

"This is a deeply personal moment for Ms Markle in the days before her wedding. She and Prince Harry ask again for understanding and respect to be extended to Mr Markle in this difficult situation."

TMZ is reporting that the palace was caught off-guard about Meghan's dad's decision and hastily sent out the statement about the matter.

Thomas also confirmed he had suffered a heart attack six days ago and had left hospital early in anticipation of attending the event. He told TMZ that since the incident about the photos was revealed, he has been having renewed heart pains because of the "emotional distress." He also said he hasn't heard from his daughter since he confirmed to the gossip site that he would not be attending the wedding.

Shuuu. All of this in the week leading up to your wedding.

Poor Meghan.
