Beyoncé coins #MelanatedMonas and slay queens are all over it
Beyoncé coined a new term, “Melanated Monas”, and Twitter is all sorts of happy.
The singer used the phrase as she and hubby Jay-Z made a surprise tribute to Duchess of Sussex Meghan Markle during an acceptance speech at the Brit Awards on Wednesday.
“Thank you so much to the Brit Awards for this incredible honour. You guys have always been so supportive. Everything is love. Thank you,” said B.
Beyoncé took to her Instagram account to honour Markle, calling her “Melanated Mona”.
“In honour of Black History Month, we bow down to one of our Melanated Monas. Congrats on your pregnancy, we wish you so much joy!”
#MelanatedMonas quickly topped Twitter trends, with Beyoncé’s fans praising her for being a “linguistic legend”.
