Da L.E.S, Youngsta CPT and other celebs rally to get justice for AKA
"It really baffles me how there is no progress towards finding the killers ..."
Amid investigations into the assassination of rapper AKA, his close friends and industry colleagues have rallied social media to question the lack of progress in the murder case.
Kiernan "AKA" Forbes was gunned down outside a popular Florida Road, Durban, restaurant last month. Celebrity chef and author Tebello “Tibz” Motsoane was also killed in the shooting.
Though no arrests have been made, police minister Bheki Cele said there had been "significant" progress in the investigation of the murders when giving an update during an interview on Newzroom Afrika.
“The investigation is going on. They [police in the province] are following some directions. There is progress in the case. It seems to be significant [progress],” he said.
During the presentation of the quarterly crime stats, KwaZulu-Natal police commissioner Lt-Gen Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi said they had interviewed a number of people.
“The identification of those seen on videos on social media is something we cannot disclose, but we have an idea who those people might be.”
While authorities have been adamant the investigation would only be further addressed with the family of AKA, the lack of answers and updates has created unrest on social media — most recently after AKA's bodyguard Anwar “Dogg” Khan opened up about his death on e.tv's My Guest Tonight with Annika Larsen.
Rappers Da L.E.S and Yungsta CPT have been some of the audible social media voices on the matter.
"Crazy world we living in. How do y’all really be thinking they took my man’s? What’s the motive? Everyone don’t grieve the same. Please leave them alone, they been through a lot. I’m just as angry and also want answers but not in this direction please," Da L.E.S said.
"I shouldn’t be the most upset about Kiernan dying! Where’s his close brasse? Where’s the team? Where’s the associates? Where’s the law? Come now ouens, open your bek & Dala what you must!," Youngsta CPT wrote.

It really baffles me how there is no progress towards the findings of the killers. I mean they pretty much weren’t disguised. What exactly is the delay? I don’t understand. So killing is easy, you just kill and walk away?? Im not understanding #JusticeForAKA pic.twitter.com/qCgZMMRznJ
