After being dumped by Gagasi FM, comedian Sandile “Flymotion” Makhanya has started a podcast called The Basement.

Makhanya was part of the Gagasi FM breakfast crew but his contract wasn't renewed by the station.

This week social media was abuzz after news of Flymotion's podcast.

“What led me to do the podcast is KwaZulu-Natal artists don't have a prominent platform, everything is done in Johannesburg, so I want to break that and give other people a voice to express themselves in this podcast. It's soon going to be the biggest watched podcast in the province,” he said.

The Basement is' going to deal with any subject matter regarding social issues while  creating a platform for up and coming artists.

“It's going to be my personal views about any issues around our daily lives, politics, social issues, creative industry, promoting local talent and celebrity interviews”, he said.

Early this year it was reported  Flymotion was  at loggerheads with his former bosses at Gagasi FM after raising station issues on his social media pages.

TshisaLIVE asked Flymotion if he started the podcast because his contract wasn't renewed. “I'm not bitter but I had a bad experience on radio, so I'm doing this because of that bad experience,” he said.

The Basement aims to capture a large audience and provide  entertainment on a global scale.

“I work with Movies Media Studios in The Sails, Durban Point. They are supporting my dream. We are just starting and challenges are everywhere in every business but we overcome them. We  welcome anyone who's got something to say or to promote. I'm the host.”
